hello, anyone who reads this

sorry for such a long delay in posts but it is now officially official I am now a resident of portland, and I gotta tell you, I love it here. Sure, it's going to take a while to get used to entirely, but there is just so much more happening here than in the city whose name I dare not mention. Just kidding, I'm talking about Salem, I start my new job tomorrow so that is pretty exciting, and school in a week or so. Musically, I have just been kind of soaking things in and writing here and there, haven't actually finished a song, but parts that are so good they will enevitably be turned into songs eventually. I am currently on my quest to find my inner self, and start a band that just loves to play music. That is from the soul. But is not entirely funk.
Lately, I have been listening to hmm...all kinds of stuff. A band my dad discovered and burned me a copy of thier first album called midlake, and my brightest diamond, shiny toy guns, but after a while they burnt me out. looking for Go2 or White Music by XtC, haven't been able to find it anywhere though, but that's okay. Well, I feel like I'm just babbling now, so have a good day.

peace

Elliot

Post 1

Inspiration!

that is really what I search for all the time.

Yesterday I met up with my friend Justin from Sister Ray and we talked about the making of this Ep that I'm going to be recording sometime in february. It's really exciting stuff but I want to truly live up to the potential that I know I have inside me. To make not just one instrument be the base of the recording but all of them. I want to create arrangements where each instrument is essential to the song as a whole. It will be an ardurous task, but I am definately up for the challange.
What brought about this whole outlook you ask? Well, mostly classical music, and a record that I have been listening to so frequently lately that I just recorded onto my mp3 player. Xtc's Drums and Wires. If you have not heard it, and are one prepared to expose your ears to a new way of playing music, then you should definately listen to it. It is also one album that I feel everything has a place in. And in it, I have found exactly what I started with. Inspiration. Not inspiration to sound like Xtc, but inspiration to play like me, and not distort myself with music that has already been made, I set out to create something almost entirely different, while still using some of the traditional rock elements of course.

wish me luck.
